VINTAGE PAINTINGS (84)
The Ambient Art line was created to simulate an antique painting in need of slight restoration. Every painting is done by hand and no two pieces are exactly alike. The actual work is done by an artist who restored paintings for museums for many years. The process created by this artist is unique and all of the work is done by his entire family. First, a wood stretcher is assembled and cloth is stretched over the stretcher using square headed nails. A paper print is then transferred to cloth. The pigment from the print is actually separated from the paper and only the ink is adhered to the cloth. The subject matter is then painted to bring out details in the painting. After this step, the piece is distressed, removing the existing paint to duplicate the aging process. The final step is to varnish the entire piece as you would any original painting. Each step of the entire process is done entirely by hand.
